Bli med på tradisjonell midtsommerfeiring i Ålesund og se det utrolige Slinningsbålet brenne ned. Årets bål er rundt 35 meter høyt og er bygget av lokale ungdommer. Denne tradisjonen går flere generasjoner tilbake i tid. Kunnskap som blir overført på nytt hvert eneste år i byggeperioden som løper fra 1. mai til slutten av juni.
Bålet tennes nærmeste lørdag til 23. juni, som er den opprinnelige datoen for sankthansfeiring i Norge.
Bålgjengen satte verdensrekord i 2016 med utrolige 47, 4 meter noe som gav stor internasjonal oppmerksomhet. Rekorden ble etter hvert slått, men vi liker å tenke at den rekorden vi satte da, fortsatt er unik, ettersom Slinningsbålet bygges uten kran.
Guttene og jentene på holmen legger ned en utrolig innsats, helt gratis, men lokale bedrifter støtter opp og sponser både paller, mat og transport for å bidra.
Dette sankthansbålet har blitt hele byens stolthet og denne livesendingen er gjort i tett samarbeid med bålgjengen.

Join us for a traditional midsummer celebration in Ålesund and witness the incredible Slinningsbålet, the world’s largest bonfire, as it burns down. This year’s bonfire stands at approximately 35 meters tall and has been constructed by local youth. This tradition dates back several generations, with knowledge passed down and renewed every year during the construction period, which runs from May 1st to the end of June.
The bonfire is lit on the nearest Saturday to June 23rd, which is the original date for the St. John’s Eve celebration in Norway. In 2016, the bonfire team set a world record with an astonishing height of 47.4 meters, garnering significant international attention. Although the record has since been surpassed, we like to think that the record we set back then remains unique, as Slinningsbålet is built without the use of cranes.
The boys and girls on the island put in tremendous effort, completely voluntarily, but local businesses provide support by sponsoring pallets, food, and transportation to contribute to the cause.
This St. John’s bonfire has become a source of pride for the entire city, and this live broadcast is done in close collaboration with the bonfire team.
